Youth members have 20 Proficiency Courses to choose from!
Even as a young member you can complete well over half of these Proficiency Courses (there are only a few badges which are not suitable for younger members). Proficiency Courses are designed to be completed in a minimum of twelve hours, although some may take a little longer. Once you achieve your proficiency course, you will be awarded a certificate and a badge to place on your uniform.
When you achieve your first badge, you will be on your way to meeting the requirements of The Grand Prior’s Award (which requires a minimum of 12 badges). This is a special award in St John. Completing it is an outstanding achievement. There are two proficiencies which are compulsory for earning The Grand Prior's Award; Health Care and Caring and the Knowledge of the Order badges.
