Many other opportunities exist in St John once members turn 18 or join after 18. You will have many opportunities to broaden your skills and improve your personal attributes as a young adult.
Event Health Services
As an adult, you can join or stay involved with Event Health Services. Event Health Services provides volunteer first aid services at public events such as at sports, shows, concerts and at emergencies such as bushfires, floods and cyclones. The Junior and Youth program falls within Event Health Services in some states/territories.
Community Care
St John Community Care provides volunteering opportunities to people in the community in need, including people experiencing the effects of disadvantage, disability, the elderly and young people. These programs foster personal independence and resilience. Community care programs differ in each state and territory. To find out more, click here and go to your State/Territory website.
Ophthalmic
St John assists in saving sight and changing lives of members of communities in outback Australia, Timor-Leste and the Middle East via our Ophthalmic Services. Ophthalmic Services in St John are mainly concerned with fundraising to ensure the ongoing assistance to these communities. Improving Eye Health has been linked to reducing poverty and increasing productivity in communities.
Training
Through St John, you can become an accredited trainer. Training people in first aid builds the capacity of the community to respond to small and large first aid emergency situations. You can even become part of the St John First Aid in Schools Program. Trainers save lives by training others in first aid. Being a St John trainer is a rewarding experience!
